A trip to Russia in 1996 changed Mark and Joyce Levsen’s lives. They adopted a son and daughter from a Russian orphanage. Mark also brought home an ornately hand carved cross as a souvenir.
Back home in Wisconsin and later South Dakota, Mark was inspired by that cross to pursue woodcarving as a hobby. As the years went on, the children grew and his love of carving became a passion. Since 2010 Mark has carved full-time, and Joyce joined the business in 2015.
Today Mark and Joyce make crosses and nature inspired pieces, reflecting their love for the Lord and His creation. All designs are original, and each piece is crafted by hand, using traditional wood carving tools. They travel to over 30 art or art/craft shows a year, displaying their crosses, landscapes, Christmas music boxes, and more. Upcoming shows are listed on the home page.
The Levsens are passionate about their work and helping orphans of the world. A portion of each sale supports orphan care at Village of Hope in San Lucas, Guatemala. For more information on this wonderful Christian mission, visit http://www.villageofhopeguatemala.com/
